Description
Plants can grow up to 5 feet in the first year.  Although heads can be harvested the first year, it is advised that the plants be cut back to allow for much greater yields during following years. Mature heads have a deep green color with purple showing at the spines.  Spines on the leaves and buds are normally free of seed.  The heads are globe in shape achieving good size and quality.
